WHAT: Webcast
– “Patient
Power” with Andrew Schorr at www.patientpower.info.
In
recent media coverage cell phones and brain tumors are somehow ending up in the
same sentence, making the discussion a hot topic. Is there a connection? Should
we be concerned? There has been much speculation by members in the cancer
community for some time, though research has not provided any evidence to
support these claims. We have yet to answer the question: Are cell phones
causing brain tumors? In this special webcast, Dr. Reid C. Thompson, Director
of the Vanderbilt Brain Tumor Center, weighs in on this controversial topic and
helps us to separate the myths from the facts. Also joining us is Ezra Fitz,
who underwent brain surgery at Vanderbilt. With
no prior symptoms, Ezra and his family also had questions about the possibility
of a cell phone link. Join us for a thought-provoking webcast as an
expert and a patient discuss the possibility of a connection between cell
phones and brain tumors.

ABOUT
PATIENT POWER:
Patient
Power debuted in February 2005 and is a weekly show hosted by Andrew Schorr,
twelve-year leukemia survivor, patient educator and patient advocate. The
show features renowned medical experts on topics that include cancer, pain,
diabetes, and heart specialists, as well as experts in clinical trials and top
pharmacists. The show serves to bring patients together in a radio and
Internet community to help navigate an often inhospitable healthcare system.
Patient Power takes questions from callers and Internet listeners on topics
such as how to find the right doctor, how to advocate for effectively, when to
get a second opinion from a specialist, and how to evaluate one treatment
option over another.
